Posted by Holly Gayer on

Hello, goddess! Welcome to my new blog series on the basics of Goddess energy. Each blog will highlight a different deity, offering foundational insights to help you explore how their essence might align with your personal journey.

Say hello to Persephone, the goddess of spring and Queen of the underworld!  Let's jump into the essence of this powerful goddess of rebirth and transition.

Persephone is associated with spring, death, and rebirth. She is an excellent goddess to work with if you want to focus on shadow work as the queen of the underworld. There are several ways to begin your journey with her, whether you’re ready to delve into your shadow or simply wish to honor this powerful goddess. Start with some simple offerings. Persephone's correspondence could include:

  • Herbs/Foods: Pomegranate, mint, and grains (think Amaranth).
  • Florals: Poppies, lavender, jasmine, cypress, spring flowers.
  • Crystals: Onyx, garnet and carnelian.
  • Colors: Indigo, purple, black, and light blue.
  • Animal: Bats, ram, and deer.

These symbolic offerings can be used on an altar or in other unique ways but intention is everything, honoring Persephone can take many forms. Don’t need pressured to delve into elaborate rituals. Devotion can be simple.

  • Persephone is a spring goddess and simple gestures like nurturing seedlings for your summer garden can be a gesture to her.
  • Persephone encourages self-care, take a ritual bath choosing her favorite items to invoke her essence.
  • Wear items like garnet or onyx jewelry.
  • Go for a nature walk during the spring and focus your thoughts on her.
  • Or light a candle and meditate, focusing on nurturing the "seeds" you have planted or finding strength in shadow work.

This spring, as life begins anew, take time to reflect and embrace growth as the season changes. Step into your power, allow yourself to begin your transformation and continue your spiritual journey.
